 RE:  Weatherproof Screened Bottom Boards
 Dear Janet:
You know how excited I was when you introduced me to your screened bottom boards at the Western Apiary Society’s annual meeting in Buellton, CA four years ago.  As you may remember, I purchased 15 of them from you and changed out all of my hives and started to use them when supplying my new students with equipment.
Four years later after being exposed to the Central Coast of California’s strong sun and ocean influence (my apiary is only one mile from the Pacific Ocean) I am amazed and delighted to see how well they are holding up.  There is very little weathering apparent and they’re still in great shape.
It’s for that reason that I placed another order to supply beekeepers on the Central Coast with your quality screened bottom boards.  I look forward to many more years of service from the boards.  Thanks for putting the quality in!!
 Yours truly,
   David L. Maislen

Subject: for the newsletter and website

Janet Brisson from Country Rubes in Grass Valley has developed a multi-function anti-varroa screen. You can check it out at their website www.countryrubes.com. She will demonstrate it at our September meeting, and bring a supply to offer to members at $30 plus tax. Gary Lawrence purchased one at Sacramento Beekeepers for $39.95, so that is a bargain and you will not have to pay shipping costs. It can serve as a bottom board, and with the plastic board removed is open for good ventilation.

For those interested  in Country Rubes Combo Screen Boards that were discussed at your May meeting I plan to be up in San Francisco on June 8th  and will be at the Randall Museum between 6 and 7pm.  If you could let me know how many boards you want,  finished (boiled in a paraffin/rosin mixture for weather proofing al la Randy Oliver) or undipped by calling me at 530-346-6439), email me at rubes@infostations.com or order from our website, CountryRubes.com.   There is a club special of $30.00 plus tax (8.5%).  No shipping.    Please make your arrangements by June 6th and if you  have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, call or write.
I have been invited to speak to your club and will return on September 14th to talk about my journey with screen boards and the varroa mites and all of the information I have gathered with my research.   I'll take orders again before prior to that meeting and bring more  Screen boards at that time.
    Sincerely,   Janet Brisson

Email From Ms. Woodman on June 6, 2005.

Gentlemen:
I purchased (by phone) an extra "screened bottom board" from Sacramento
Beekeeping last week , with many other things for a swarm I am (hobby)
hiving.
Upon receipt of the shipment I opened to find a very strange looking
screened bottom board and called Sacramento Beekeeping and asked what
it was. They were most vague and after attempting to figure out how it
would fit on a hive stand, simply placed it under the new deep super
and began admiring the details.

THEN, I read my newsletter update from the San Francisco Beekeeping
Club and read I am ahead of the group as they just had someone come
speak to them and are all scrambling to order your Country Rube
Screened bottom board.

AND NOW that I have read all about it on your website I am even more
thrilled to know all of its uses/functions.
It is wonderful and I am very excited to see how it functions compared
to the rest of our hives (only 4).
So you might want to give Sacramento Beekeeping Supply a little
education on your fine product so that they can explain it better (or
at all) to their customers.

Thank you.

Jane Woodman

I did give a program on May 6th, 2005 at the Sacramento Beekeeping Association.

Thanks,

Janet
